Biology undergrad, photographer, mechanic, all-around-handyman.... I wear many hats. I took up photography years ago because I wanted my children to have plenty of photos to remember their childhood with. My first 'real' camera I bought was a Fuji Finepix S700, and by nature I quickly was poking around in its rather user-unfriendly full manual mode.
Despite what a pain it was to adjust everything as I pleased (manual focusing on the s700 was terribly implemented) I became enthralled by the amount of control I could have over my photos. A whole new world opened to me that became an obsession, and I soon purchased a DSLR so that I could have even greater control. It all went downhill after that and I ended up graduating to film a few years later.
I now have a fair collection of film cameras in medium format and 35mm, and I converted one of my rooms into a darkroom. Sadly, I rarely can justify buying chemicals, but I enjoy it just the same.
